Detailed Description
Portwest T400 Jacket: 300D Oxford Engineering, Insulatex™ Insulation, and HiVisTex™ Pro Protection
The T400 is a technical high-visibility garment (Class 3) designed for operational environments that demand maximum protection against extreme weather conditions and low-light hazards. Made with a Polyurethane (PU)-coated 300D Oxford fabric, this jacket acts as a waterproof and windproof shield. Its highly efficient Insulatex™ lining guarantees body heat retention, making it an indispensable safety tool for personnel in logistics, construction, airports, and critical infrastructure maintenance where visual detection and thermal homeostasis are survival factors.
Technical Features and Operational Capabilities
- Thermal and Climate Management: Insulatex™ padding provides superior thermal insulation with reduced weight. Its technical construction includes heat-sealed seams and a double-closure front flap to prevent water ingress, complying with EN 343 rain protection standards.
- HiVisTex™ Pro Technology: Incorporates high-quality segmented reflective tape that offers superior flexibility and breathability. Unlike rigid solid tapes, this technology allows the garment to move with the wearer, reducing fatigue and significantly improving visual detection (Standard EN ISO 20471 Class 3).
- Reinforcement Architecture: Strategic panels in high-friction areas (shoulders and elbows) are designed to resist mechanical abrasion, preventing premature tearing and ensuring the garment maintains its structural integrity after rugged field use.
- Tactical Functionality: Features 4 high-capacity pockets, including an internal security compartment for mobile devices and a detachable hood that allows quick adaptation to changing weather conditions.
Safety Notice and Limitations of Use
This jacket is designed for visibility and weather protection. It is NOT a flame-retardant, anti-static, or chemical-resistant garment. Its insulation capacity is proven for cold conditions; however, it does not replace thermal suits certified under EN 342 for prolonged extreme freezing temperatures. Always perform a Specific Risk Assessment to confirm that the protection level of this garment is appropriate for the temperatures and hazards present at your worksite.
Maintenance and Care Instructions
- Washing: Machine wash at a maximum of 40°C. Use neutral detergents. Never use fabric softeners, as these degrade the microspheres of the reflective tape and compromise retroreflection.
- Drying: Air dry. Do not expose to high-temperature industrial drying, as this can deform the Oxford fabric and damage the seam sealing.
- Ironing: Do not iron over reflective tapes. Direct heat contact will destroy the garment's visibility capacity.
- Inspection: Before each shift, verify that the HiVisTex™ Pro tapes are free of dirt, grease, or surface damage. If the tapes are cracked or detached, the garment loses its Class 3 certification and must be removed from service.
